FBN: The View From Chicago

By Chris Ariens

The Chicago Tribune‘s Phil Rosenthal weighs in on Monday’s launch of FBN. Rosenthal spoke with the network’s managing editor for business news, Neil Cavuto and with VP Alexis Glick. “There’s no reason business news can’t be fun and energetic and exciting,” said Glick. “Why can’t it be entertaining?”

And from Cavuto on CNBC: “For what they do, giving you exhaustive coverage of the markets, they’re very good at that,” Cavuto said. “I’m not saying we have to out-CNBC CNBC. I don’t buy traditional arguments that one succeeds at the expense of the other. I think we can grow the pie.”

Rosenthal points out a challenge FBN will have in the early stages: carriage. “Fox Business will only be available in Chicago on DirecTV when it launches. Comcast plans to add it in January,” Rosenthal writes.
