Farley Out, Farris Back In at CBS Evening News

By Chris Ariens

TVNewser has learned Jennifer Farley, who’s been Katie Couric’s publicist at the CBS Evening News for 13 months, is leaving the network to join a media startup. Leigh Farris, who preceded Farley at Evening News, will return to CBS in time for the DNC.

Farley has been with CBS since 2006, beginning as the publicist for CBS News Sunday Morning and 48 Hours.

> More: Farris will rejoin CBS through the election. Rick Kaplan’s email after the jump…

As most of you know, Jen Farley’s last day at CBS News is Friday.

Jen has been a trusted, talented and priceless member of our staff, and she will be greatly missed. Her talent and judgment were invaluable to all of our efforts, and we certainly wish her well in her next great adventure…which I will leave for her to tell you all about.

We came to know Jen when Leigh Farris left us for the west coast last year. And the good news is Leigh has been able to arrange her schedule to join us through Election Day as a communications consultant to CBS News, handling the CBS EVENING NEWS and helping to spearhead efforts for the Division’s on-air and online political coverage, so we won’t miss a beat.

Leigh is currently working on a project taking place Labor Day weekend in San Francisco. However, she’ll be able to spend a few days in Denver with us and will officially start on Monday, Sept. 1, in St. Paul. I could not be more pleased that Leigh will join us, and I know you will help her in any way you can.
