With Katie Couric at the helm for CBS, the three evening newscasts are fighting for 25-54 demographic supremacy. On Monday, NBC was #1, ABC was #2, and CBS was #3. On Tuesday, CBS was #1, NBC was #2, and ABC was #3.
And according to Nielsen’s fast nationals, Wednesday was a repeat of Tuesday, with CBS taking first place.
But NBC has a clear lead among total viewers. Here are the numbers for Sept. 20:
Total viewers: NBC: 8,240,000 / CBS: 7,500,000 / ABC: 7,470,000
25-54 rating: NBC: 2.1 / CBS: 2.2 / ABC: 1.9
25-54 demo: NBC: 2,630,000 / CBS: 2,640,000 / ABC: 2,340,000
