By Chris Ariens

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt wins the week edging ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir by just 20,000 viewers, or a quarter percent. Compared to the same week last year only ABC grew its audience (+1 percent) while NBC lost viewers (-4 percent).

In the A25-54 demo, all three newscasts were down vs. the same week last year: ABC was down the most, -10 percent, followed by the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley down -4 percent and Nightly News down -3 percent.

Due to the Labor Day holiday ABC and CBS are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday) while NBC is based on three days. Thursday was excluded for NBC due to the NFL season opening game.
