Update 10/11/14: the numbers have been updated following a Nielsen ratings data glitch.
Another split in the evenings: “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams takes total viewers while “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir” takes the A25-54 demo. Compared to the same week last year Muir’s broadcast showed the most across-the-board growth: up +11% in viewers and up +9% in the demo.
“Nightly’s” lead on “World News Tonight” last week was 158,000 viewers (less than 2%). That’s the closest ABC has gotten to NBC in four weeks, which was Diane Sawyer’s final week, and “WNT” got within 40,000 viewers.
“CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was also up in both measurements: up +3% in viewers and up +4% in the demo. “Nightly News” was up in viewers (+2%) but down in the demo (-7%) year-over-year.
Numbers for the week of Sept. 22, 2014:
|• Total Viewers:||8,239,000||7,793,000||6,375,000|
