Evening News Ratings: Week of Oct. 15

ABC World News Tonight with David Muir ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast for the week of Oct. 15, 2018 in total viewers. ABC’s evening newscast averaged 8 million total viewers last week, per Nielsen data, which is roughly +172,000 more than its NBC counterpart. ABC World News Tonight has now won the last 36 weeks in total viewers.

On the downside, the newscast posted audience declines of -3 percent in total viewers and -8 percent in the key A25-54 demographic vs. the comparable week in 2017.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast last week among adults 25-54, the demo which TV news advertisers covet. Not only did the NBC evening newscast widen its lead over ABC and CBS in the A25-54 demo, but it was also the sole evening newscast to post a year-over-year increase in total viewers (+1 percent).

The CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor posted the most significant year-over-year ratings drop off. The newscast was -6 percent in total viewers and -9 percent in A25-54.
