Evening News Ratings: Week of March 28

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt took top honors for the week of March 28, with ABC World News Tonight with David Muir and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley grabbing second and third place, respectively.

Nightly News won the week in total viewers (8.6 million) and the news demo (2 million viewers). The program was down -2 percent in total viewers from the previous week, and down -6 percent in adults 25-54, but was up from the comparable week in 2015, both in total viewers (+9 percent) and in adults 25-54 (+11 percent).

Nightly has been No.1 in total viewers for eight consecutive weeks, and No. 1 in the 25-54 demo for 36 consecutive weeks.

World News Tonight was the sole evening news program to improve in total viewers from the previous week. It was up +1 percent in total viewers, and down less than 1 percent in adults 25-54.

The broadcast was up +3 percent in total viewers from the comparable week in 2015, but down -7 percent in adults 25-54.

The CBS Evening News was down -1 percent in total viewers versus the previous week, and down -2 percent in adults 25-54.

That said, the program continues to improve year-over-year. This past week, it was up more than +6 percent in total viewers and +10 percent in adults 25-54.
