
ABC World News Tonight is running on all cylinders right now.
The David Muir-anchored evening newscast not only finished No. 1 in total viewers this past week (+604,000), but it also defeated the competition in adults 25-54 (+69,000) and adults 18-49. Additionally, WNT managed to post +4 percent growth in total viewers, and +3 percent growth in adults 25-54 vs. the same week in 2017.
World News Tonight has been the most-watched evening newscast in America for 24 consecutive weeks, and is currently averaging its largest total audience since the 2004-05 season.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt–which saw its executive producer step down last week– slipped to second place in the key A25-54 demo. Nightly was -4 percent in the category vs. the same week in 2017. On a more positive note, the newscast posted +1 percent total viewer growth compared to last year.
NBC Nightly News was No. 1 in the A25-54 demo for July 2018 sweeps, as we noted last Friday.
The CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor posted +1 percent total viewer growth vs. the same week in 2017, but the broadcast was -6 percent among adults 25-54.
