
ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir had its most-watched week in 13 years last week.
Averaging more than 10.3 million viewers, ABC had the No. 1 newscast of the week while NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt continued to lead among younger viewers. That 10.3 million average puts World News Tonight ahead of all but a handfull of prime time entertainment shows on broadcast TV.
Muir’s newscast also showed the most growth of the three network evening newscasts out-delivering NBC Nightly News by 580,000 viewers which is more than double its lead from the previous week.
Compared to the same week last year ABC was up +14 percent in viewers and up +6 percent in the demo; Nightly News was up +4 percent in viewers and flat in the demo; the CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor was down -1 percent in viewers and down -2 percent in the demo.
