
“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” finished first in the ratings for the week of Jan. 26, in what was mostly a down week for the three evening newscast when compared to the same week last year.
Only ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” saw viewership growth: up +1%. “Nightly” was down -6% in viewers and down -10% in the demo; Muir’s newscast was down -14% in the demo, while “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was down -4% in viewers and down -13% in the demo. All three newscasts saw week-to-week gains in both total viewers and the demo.
It should be noted that the same week last year was the most-watched week for the evening newscasts in three years.
