Evening News Ratings: Week of Feb. 5

By Chris Ariens

As coverage began from the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt took over the top spot in the evenings, in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo. NBC retitled its Thursday and Friday broadcasts as Olympics coverage pre-empted the broadcast in the Mountain and Pacific time zones.

Compared to the same week last year NBC was up +8 percent in viewers and up +9 percent in the A25-54 demo. ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir also saw growth, up +3 percent in viewers and up +1 percent in the demo. The CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor was down -5 percent in viewers and down -7 percent in the demo compared to the same week last year.

Season to date, ABC ranks No. 1 in total viewers, while Nightly News leads among younger viewers.
