“CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” may still trail its evening news competitors, but the show had its best week in four years last week, since Jan. 26, 2009, in total viewers and in households.
Compared to the same week last year, “Evening News” is up +13% in both Total Viewers and A25-54 viewers, the most of the three newscasts. Last year at this time, Pelley trailed No. 1 “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” by almost 2.9 million viewers, last week the gap was 2.1 million.
“ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” was also up last week: +8% in total viewers and up +10% in younger viewers. “Nightly” was up +1% in total viewers and down -1% in younger viewers.
