Evening News Ratings: Week of April 6

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” wins its second week in a row in both total viewers and the younger demos. ABC led “NBC Nightly News” with Lester Holt by 228,000 total viewers, its biggest overall viewer lead in more than 6 1/2 years – since the week of Sept. 8, 2008, the week then-anchor Charles Gibson interviewed GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin. The lead in the demo was by 190,000 viewers. This is the first time ABC has won back-to-back weeks since August 13 and August 20, 2007.

“World News Tonight” was also up the most year-over-year, increasing its audience +15% in viewers and +11% in the A25-54 demo. “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was also up vs. last year: up +7% in viewers and up +5% in the demo. “Nightly News” was down -2% in both viewers and the demo year-over-year.
