Evening News Ratings: Week of April 25

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt continues to roll over the competition. That said, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley delivered strong total viewer averages for the week of April 25.

NBC Nightly News took the top spot across the board for the week of April 25. Nightly delivered an 8.3 million total viewer average this past week, a 2 percent gain week-to-week and a 7 percent gain from the comparable week in 2015. Nightly also grabbed over 1.9 million viewers in the news demo (A25-54), a 5 percent gain week-to-week and a 12.5 percent gain from the comparable week in 2015.

World News Tonight hauled in an 8.03 million total viewer average, which is a 4 percent improvement from the previous week and a 4.5 percent improvement from the comparable week in 2015. The weekly delivery was mixed when it came to the news demo. The 1.74 million average is a 2 percent improvement from the previous week, but a 6 percent decline from the comparable week in 2015.

CBS Evening News held the No. 3 spot, per usual, but it continues to thrive on a year-over-year basis. The program approached a 7 million total viewer average this past week, which is a 3.5 percent improvement from the previous week, and a 6 percent improvement from the comparable week in 2015. CBS Evening News hauled in close to 1.6 million viewers from the news demo. That’s a 2.5 percent improvement from the previous week and a 2 percent improvement year-over-year.
