Evening News Ratings: Week of April 23

By Chris Ariens

For the second week in a row, ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir was the most-watched evening newscast last week in both total viewers and the younger demo.

Also, once again, World News Tonight was the only evening newscast to see growth in both measurements, vs. the same week  last year: up +10 percent in viewers and up +8 percent in the demo. Muir’s season-to-date lead is with the widest margin in 22 years. The program is having its largest viewership in 13 years.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt was up +1 percent in viewers and down -4 percent in the demo. Despite back-to-back losses in the demo, Nightly News still got a win for the month of April, its 34th straight monthly win in that measurement.
