Evening News Ratings: Week of April 15

ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir was the No. 1 evening newscast for the week of April 15, both in total viewers (8.43 million) and adults 25-54 (1.7 million), per live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen.

This includes an across-the-board victory on Thursday, which was the day of the release of the Mueller report.

ABC has now won the evening news ratings race in total viewers 29 out of the 30 weeks of the broadcast season to-date.

Season to date, World News Tonight ranks No. 1 in total viewers for the 3rd year in a row, and leads Nightly News by +482,000, delivering its largest total viewers lead in 23 years – since the 1995-96 season.

However, compared to the the same week in 2018. all three evening newscasts lost viewers. ABC was -1% in total viewers, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt was -1% in total viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor was -3%. In the A25-54 demo, ABC was -3%, NBC -2% and CBS -8% vs. the comparable week last year.

Despite falling short to ABC in total viewers and the key A25-54 demographic this week, NBC Nightly News remains the No. 1 evening newscast season to date in the key A25-54 demo, and is No. 1 in the demo at this point of the season for the 11th consecutive season.
