Evening News Ratings: Week of April 12

By Chris Ariens

Summer viewing patterns are setting in early for the broadcast evening newscasts. The levels of people using television (PUTS) were down last week to the lowest levels since the week of July 13, 2009. As a result, all three shows were down week-to-week.

“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was again #1 but down 400K Total Viewers from the week prior. No. 2 “World News with Diane Sawyer” lost 320K viewers week-to-week, but was able to narrow the Total Viewer gap with “Nightly” by 10%.

“CBS Evening News with Katie Couric” lost the least — 150K Total Viewers — hovering just over a 5M average for the week.
