In the May 2006 sweep, NBC Nightly News had an 11 percent advantage over ABC’s World News Tonight. That lead over ABC among total viewers “represents the program’s biggest May sweep advantage in total viewers ever (as far back as NBC News research records go, September 1987),” NBC says. “Compared to the May sweep a year ago, Nightly’s total viewer advantage over ABC also increased by five percentage points to 11% (versus 6% last year).”
