Who’s Behind That Iconic ’60 Minutes’ Art?

When 60 Minutes debuted in 1968, correspondent Harry Reasoner described it as “a kind of a magazine for television.” Magazines have covers, so Bob Corujo was brought in to design opening artwork for each story. And just like a magazine, the cover art is meant capture the viewer’s attention.

Corujo has created roughly 3,000 pieces of cover art that appear behind the correspondents on the 60 Minutes set. The artwork was originally handcrafted from cardboard and are known within 60 Minutes as “books.”

“I think more people have probably seen my work than have seen, you know, some of the more famous artists,” Corujo says in a 60 Minutes Overtime piece. WATCH:
