Errol Barnett and Lilia Luciano Earn New Roles at CBS News

By A.J. Katz

CBS News announced Monday that correspondents Lilia Luciano and Errol Barnett are taking on New York-based roles at the network.

Luciano and Barnett will report for CBS’ Northeast Bureau for all programs. Additionally, they will each contribute to the CBS News Streaming Network.

Currently the network’s transportation correspondent, Barnett joined CBS News in 2016 as a Washington-based correspondent, covering the White House beat on weekends and the rest of the country weekdays. He was with Pres. Obama during his final overseas trip in office—and was part of CBS News’ special Inauguration coverage for Pres. Trump. Barnett also reported on the disappearance of Jamal Kashoggi.

Before joining CBS News, Barnett spent eight years at CNN. He anchored CNN Newsroom airing on CNN and CNNI. Prior to anchoring from CNN’s Atlanta headquarters, CNN deployed Barnett to South Africa as general assignment reporter, and to Abu Dhabi, as a midday anchor.

Luciano has been stationed on the West Coast for CBS News and—most recently—has offered coverage of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. She’s also covered immigration at the borders of Arizona and California, the Covid-19 pandemic, wildfires in the west and Black Lives Matter marches.

A well-traveled journalist, Luciano spent more than three years at Tegna before joining CBS News in 2020, two years as a freelance correspondent for Vice, three years as an NBC News correspondent and also worked a stint as a host for Univision-owned network TeleFutura (now UniMás).
