Erin Burnett: Is She Staying or is She Going?

By Chris Ariens

Early reports of Erin Burnett moving to the early shift on CNN may have been premature.

FTVLive reports:

CNN sources tell FTVLive that the Burnett to mornings is “dead in the water” and is not happening. Word is that CNN Boss Jeff Zucker is planning on going a different direction in finding a co-anchor for newly hired Chris Cuomo.

This report comes less than a week after Soledad O’Brien announced she would be leaving the morning show. As FishbowlDC reported earlier this week, Zucker met with NABJ representatives about the state of black anchors on the network. When O’Brien leaves, Suzanne Malveaux will be the only African American weekday anchor on the network.

While you may not see Burnett every morning, she will be anchoring during the mid-morning hours tomorrow. Burnett is slated to co-host, along with Cuomo a special on Pope Benedict. “The Pope’s Last Day” will be simulcast on CNN/U.S. and CNN International beginning at 10amET.
