Drop The Gimmicks, CNBC

Marketwatch’s Jon Friedman says the “CNBC Squawk Box Fantasy Portfolio Challenge” is lame.

“Sadly, gimmicks of varying types seem to mean a lot to CNBC…these days. Consider the game show-like sweepstakes and former Walt Disney CEO Michael Eisner’s new talk show, to name two.”

He contends “that CNBC is playing a dangerous game by messing with its image as a serious news channel.” More…
