Donald Trump Is Giving Stephen Colbert a Ratings Boost

By Chris Ariens

Stephen Colbert was one of Donald Trump biggest detractors during and after the campaign. But if this week’s ratings are any indication, the Late Show host could benefit greatly from Pres. Trump.

According to Nielsen overnights, CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged a 2.9 rating / 7 share last night, ahead of The Tonight Show (2.3) and Jimmy Kimmel Live (1.9) in the 56 metered markets. That’s its highest local rating since Sept 22, 2015, when Trump was a guest.

Late Show was up +21 percent from the same night last week, and up +16 percent from the same night last year

Last night marked the fourth night this week that The Late Show finished first in the local markets.
