Did FNC’s Atlanta Bureau “Drop The Ball” On The Hostage Press Conference?

An anonymous FNC insider e-mails TVNewser to explain why CNN was #1 on Sunday night: “FNC was riding high after Friday’s coup of beating CNN in their own backyard on a breaking news story, but within 48 hours staffers felt a little differently as the Atlanta bureau was caught with their pants down on the Ashley Smith presser.” According to the insider, “Fox’s Atlanta bureau dropped the ball big time and were unaware that a press conference was even taking place despite CNN reporting it at 7:45pm that night. When the bureau realized their mistake, they tried to crash the press conference but were embarrassingly locked out once they arrived on the scene. Apparently the gaffe caused a sizeable dent in Sunday night’s ratings, with CNN uncharacteristically crushing FNC in the 9, 10 & 11pm hours.  The Atlanta bureau mangled this completely — they’re the reason we got beat.”
