Diane Sawyer’s Bruce Jenner Interview Draws 17 Million Viewers

By Chris Ariens

Diane Sawyer‘s interview with Bruce Jenner on ABC last night drew 16.86 million viewers, making it TV’s biggest Friday non-sports broadcast since 2003 and giving 20/20 its strongest numbers in more than 15 years, since March 17, 2000.

The Jenner special drew 2 million more than Sawyer’s most-recent big get: the 2011 interview with Jayce Dugard, who was held captive for 18 years. That 2-hour special aired in July.

The Jenner special drew a 5.2 rating in the A18-49 demo (best since Jan., 2005) and a 6.4 rating in the A25-54 demo (best since April, 2003).
