Despite NBC Ownership, Weather Channel Meteorologists Are Appearing on CBS

By Chris Ariens

Tonight on the CBS Evening News, Weather Channel personality Mike Bettes reported live on severe weather in the midwest. Two weeks ago Bettes was on CBS This Morning reporting on a tornado in Illinois. Interesting to note since Bettes’ employer, the Weather Channel, is part-owned by CBS’s competitor NBC. Weather Channel meteorologists have been appearing on NBC News and MSNBC for years, since NBCU became a minority owner of the Weather Channel in 2008.

According to TVEyes the last Weather Channel appearance on MSNBC was April 11. “Today” show weather personality Al Roker reported on the severe midwest weather for “NBC Nightly News.”
