“Deep In Talks:” NBC Has Offered Couric’s Seat To Meredith Vieira

Today’s Washington Post says Meredith Vieira “has been offered the job of replacing Couric and is seriously considering it,” citing sources.

“Vieira…is expected to sign a five-year contract with NBC, and will debut on Today, with Matt Lauer, in the fall,” The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. “Vieira’s View deal is up in July. She would have to negotiate an exit from her Millionaire contract, which has more than two years remaining.”

The New York Post says: “Yesterday, NBC and Vieira were said to be ‘deep in talks’ after NBC News officials finally called her… Early yesterday, Vieira told staffers at ‘The View’ that she was probably going to leave the show, sending producers scrambling to find a replacement for her, according to ABC sources.”
