Daytime Changes For MSNBC

By SteveK

MSNBC will be moving to a three-anchor daytime line-up beginning tomorrow, featuring Tamron Hall, Contessa Brewer and David Shuster. The team will anchor from 9amET-1pmET.

A similar format has been used in the past, with each anchor focusing on certain coverage.

TVNewser has obtained an internal memo sent to MSNBC staff (first reported on ICN) announcing the reason for the changes:

Starting Monday we’ll be launching a new dayside format from 9a to 1p that will last for at least the next 2 weeks leading up to election. It will be based on 3 anchors, each having an “expertise” and being in a specific location on the set to deliver that “expertise.” It will also have contributors with an expertise on set or on location. Instead of each anchor, anchoring an hour… the team will anchor the 4 hours.

We hear more changes will be coming to MSNBC news coverage starting Monday as well.
