He was the weekend anchor for “World News” for the last few years, but when 6:30pmET struck on Monday, David Muir felt it.
“I did feel the butterflies,” Muir told TVNewser at the launch party for Robin Roberts’ production company last night. “I walked down that hallway, the same hallway that Jennings, Gibson, and Sawyer walked down, and I would be lying if I didn’t say I felt a responsibility to them and to the folks at home.”
“All I wanted to do on Monday night, was somehow message to the viewers what an honor this is, and to somehow find a way to thank Diane for being a true friend and more than a friend; a force who I’ve been lucky to travel the world with and who’s now cheering me on. It’s been a great gift.”
