David Gregory Joins CNN as Political Analyst

After making several appearance on the network, CNN solidified its agreement with David Gregory, naming him political analyst, “The newly minted CNN political analyst,” Alisyn Camerota said this morning on New Day. “You have arrived, my friend.”

“Thanks for having me. I’m very happy to be part of it,” Gregory said in his first–very early–segment (at 6am) this morning. CNN says Gregory “will primarily appear on New Day.”

Gregory had been a part of CNN’s early primary coverage, while also appearing on other networks.

Gregory left NBC News two years ago, after a 6-year run as moderator of Meet the Press. He’d been with NBC since 1995.

CNN has also brought on Angela Rye as a political commentator. The former Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus has also served as senior advisor and counsel on the House Committee on Homeland Security.
