Dan Rather: “Respect For the Presidency”

By Alissa Krinsky

At the weekly “Q&A Cafe” at Nathans restaurant Wednesday, Dan Rather was interviewed by forum host Carol Joynt. As FBDC‘s Patrick Gavin reports in the Washington Examiner, Joynt asks Rather whether “he’d like to” have President Bush called as a witness should Rather’s CBS lawsuit go to trial. “I’d like not to answer the question,” Rather said.

Joynt also asks “if (Rather) believes the President hates him, and Rather responded by saying that ‘hate is a strong word.’ Then, he began to well up. ‘You’ve never met anybody who had more respect for the presidency than I do,’ said Rather, choking back tears.”
