Appearing on Larry King’s RT America show, former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather said Fox News founder and chairman Roger Ailes has helped the Republican Party, but wouldn’t categorize Fox News as part of the GOP.
“Ailes considers himself still a part of the Republican Party, and I think in so far that he’s able to, that he wants his channel to be that way,” Rather said, cautioning against casting a wide blanket over Fox News and praising several of the “pros” he knows there.
“Is it a soul operative and propaganda machine for the party? I’d have to stop short of that,” he concluded.
