A joke posted to The Daily Show’s Twitter account following Monday’s Supreme Court ruling on abortion drew immediate criticism, with Fox News contributor Meghan McCain describing the joke as “vile.”
The 5-3 ruling, considered the most significant decision from the Supreme Court on abortion in two decades, struck down abortion restrictions in Texas. The Daily Show tweeted, “celebrate the #SCOTUS ruling! Go knock someone up in Texas!”
The response was swift, with the joke being called “disgusting,” “idiotic,” and “distasteful.”
