Craig Melvin Gets First MSNBC Interview with Pres. Trump

Pres. Trump, touring the National Museum of African American History and Culture, paused for an interview with MSNBC and NBC’s Craig Melvin this morning. This makes Melvin the first NBC Newser to get an interview with Pres. Trump. Melvin got news from the president when he asked about the rise in anti-Semitic attacks across the U.S. “Anti-Semitism is horrible and it’s going to stop,” Trump said, adding, “It’s age-old. There is something going on that doesn’t allow it to fully heal. But we want to have it get very much better. To get unified.”

Trump has not done many one-on-one interviews since taking office four weeks ago. There was ABC’s David Muir‘s first interview on Jan. 25, an interview with FNC’s Sean Hannity later that week, and a sit-down with FNC’s Bill O’Reilly that aired on Super Bowl Sunday.

Just last week, Trump tweeted his displeasure with MSNBC, as well as CNN, calling them “unwatchable.”
