Couric’s CBS Set Arrives Next Week

By Brian

CBS has exactly five weeks to prepare for Katie Couric‘s premiere on the CBS Evening News. Staffers are earnestly creating a new anchor space and newsroom in the place of the Rather-era backdrop. When I visited CBS on Monday, the rim was installed and flat-screen TVs were hooked up, but Couric’s anchor space hadn’t arrived yet.

“Construction is well underway for the new CBS Evening News newsroom and set,” the network’s C-Note said yesterday. “So far, the newsroom has been installed, but the actual set — which includes the new anchor desk — is scheduled to arrive next week. Though staffers have enjoyed the convenience of their temporary space in the CBS cafeteria (affectionately know as the ‘Newseteria’), they are anxious to return to their old, but very new, digs.”
