With the headline “Couric to Anchor CBS Evening News,” the Los Angeles Times is expressing confidence that the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

“As of late this afternoon, negotiations between the various players were ongoing, but people close to the participants stressed that a deal could be struck very quickly,” Matea Gold says.

“…While Couric appears resolved to make the move, a few outstanding details were still being settled today — most urgently, who will be replacing her on ‘Today.’ …As soon as those pieces fall into place, NBC is prepared for Couric to make an announcement that she is departing ‘Today,’ followed immediately by a press release from CBS announcing her new job, according to sources close to the process.”
