Couric To CBS: “I Know It’s The Worst-Kept Secret In America…”

Some media reports had speculated that Katie Couric wouldn’t mention her move to CBS, but she spilled the beans on Today this morning.

A moment after Couric said she was leaving NBC, Matt Lauer asked “did it say anywhere in there” where you’re going? as he pretended to flip through her teleprompter copy.

“At this point I’m thinking about opening it up a secondhand book store in Montana,” Katie laughed.

Matt said he wouldn’t let a guest get away with keeping a secret like Couric’s. She responded: “I know it’s the worst-kept secret in America. But I’m going to be working on the CBS Evening News and 60 Minutes. I’m very excited about it.”

“We’re so proud of you, and we’re going to miss you so much,” Lauer told her.

“They are very very lucky at CBS,” Al Roker said a couple minutes later…
