By Alissa Krinsky

Variety reports on Marvin Kalb‘s interview of Katie Couric at The Kalb Report forum in Washington, D.C. last night. Some Couric quotes:

> On the Iraq War: “I’ve never understood why (Iraq) was so high on the nation’s agenda, when terrorism was going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and there was no connection between Iraq and 9-11.”

> On Americans’ reactions to a woman anchoring the evening news: “I think there probably remains an underlying discomfort in this country with women in power.”

> On whether she’ll leave the CBS Evening News for full-time work at 60 Minutes: “That’s not true.”

> And on Dan Rather‘s George Bush/Air National Guard story: “There were things in there that were quite egregious in terms of how it was reported. And sloppy work is sloppy work.” (quote from the Washington, D.C. Examiner story by FBDC‘s Patrick Gavin)
