‘Cosmos’ Sequel EP Seth MacFarlane ‘100% With’ CNN’s Newt Gingrich on Moon Base

CosmosToday might as well be a national holiday for space junkies as the classic TV series starring Carl Sagan “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage” returns on Fox for a sequel, “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.”

Our sister-site Lost Remote reports on the social media buzz that developed earlier this week during the premiere event featuring host Neil deGrasse Tyson, EP Seth MacFarlane, and other series producers and writers.

And for those that don’t know, CNN “Crossfire” co-host Newt Gingrich highlighted U.S. space expansion as one of his big policy initiatives while he was running for president in 2012.  “Cosmos” EP MacFarlane told the Los Angeles Times he is completely with Newt.

And then in 2012 Newt Gingrich suggested we should have a moon base and everyone thought he was crazy. And I was thinking, I’m a liberal Democrat but I’m 100% with this guy. He’s exactly right. They thought this would happen 10 years ago and here he is making this suggestion and suddenly he’s a crackpot. I think that’s one reason to get back on track.

“Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” debuts tonight at 9pmET on Fox.
