Correspondent David Mattingly Leaving CNN

By Mark Joyella

david_mattingly_cnn_h_2012CNN national correspondent David Mattingly has announced he is leaving the network at the end of the year. In a post on Facebook, Mattingly said he will be “walking out of the building a better journalist and better person than when I walked in.”

Mattingly, who has been with CNN since 1992–and, as he pointed out, traveled to 30 countries and all fifty states–said of his next step only that he will be leaving CNN “to try my hand at something new (more on that later).”

MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!–Thanks for following me on Facebook and for following my work at CNN for the last 23 years. At the end of 2014 I will be leaving the network to try my hand at something new (more on that later). But first, I can’t leave without expressing my gratitude for the incredible experiences and amazing people I encountered while on this life-changing journey. I’ve been moved, humbled and inspired in ways too personal to go into here. Let’s just say that after 30 countries, 50 states, 6 continents and thousands of reports and live shots, I’m walking out of the building a better journalist and better person than when I walked in. Send me a message or post a comment if you like…I would love to hear from you!
