Corey Lewandowski: ‘I Have a Lot of Friends at All the Networks’

In an appearance on the CNN’s New Day, where he was expected to make his debut as a CNN political commentator (before his first appearance was moved up to Thursday night’s Erin Burnett OutFront), former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski insisted he had “great” relationships with the press.

While the segment was about how the U.K.’s Brexit vote might play into the U.S. presidential election, New Day co-anchor Alisyn Camerota asked Lewandowski about the reaction to CNN’s hiring him. “It turns out not everybody is a fan of the decision,” Camerota said. “You never seemed to have much respect for the press.”

Lewandowski insisted that wasn’t true. “I have great relationships with the media…look, I love everybody. I love you, right? The bottom line is I have a great relationship with the press. I have a lot of friends at all of the networks.”

The subject of Lewandowski’s arrival at CNN was discussed Sunday on the network’s Reliable Sources, where host Brian Stelter insisted there was no “open revolt” inside the network, but said it was “the most controversial hire” in years.
