Coming Soon to HBO: A ’60 Minutes’ For Twentysomethings?

By Alex Weprin

Vice Magazine hosted an “upfront” last night, and in addition to launching their new website, the company announced a project with HBO. The show’s concept? According to AdWeek‘s D.M. Levine, it would be a “’60 Minutes” for young people”:

Though he didn’t go into detail on stage, after his presentation Smith told Adweek that the show, which he described as a “’60 Minutes’ for young people,” will be executive produced by Mahr and called “Vice T.V.” Smith says the new program will air in primetime next Fall.

Vice has already struck a partnership with CNN. That deal raised eyebrows as the magazine is known for its racy content, very unlike the usually prim and proper cable news channel.
