WWE superstar Cody Rhodes will appear as a guest-star on Syfy’s “Warehouse 13” August 24. The appearance is a clever bit of corporate synergy, with Syfy set to premiere the WWE’s “Friday Night Smackdown” October 1.
Rhodes will play “Kurt Smoller” a high school love interest to Joanne Kelly’s character “Myka Bering,” and former captain of the football team.
Syfy, and NBC Universal more generally, hve long had a relationship with the WWE. Its flagship program, “WWE Raw,” airs Monday’s on Syfy sister network USA, and Syfy has run “WWE NXT,” which will be replaced by “Smackdown.” WWE superstars regularly make appearances on NBC Universal programming, including “Saturday Night Live.”
The two companies also partnered on the short-lived XFL football league.
