CNN’s Soledad O’Brien Reports: Civil Rights, Ernest Withers, & the Camera that Captured it All

By Molly Stark Dean

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien reports on the life of civil rights photojournalist and FBI informant Ernest Withers in the Black in America Special “Pictures Don’t Lie.”

O’Brien tells TVNewser, “It’s fascinating that people close to the story — activists, family members, historians — have different reactions to and interpretations of his role as an FBI informant. [We] examine what it actually meant to be an FBI ‘racial’ informant and the effect of these revelations on Withers’ legacy.”

The special airs tonight at 8pmET.
