CNN’s Elise Labott Suspended After Refugee Tweet

A network source confirms CNN global affairs correspondent Elise Labott has been suspended for two weeks after the veteran journalist suggested the Statue of Liberty was “in anguish” after a vote on refugees in the House of Representatives.

In the tweet posted Thursday morning, Labott reported a House vote that could limit Syrian and Iraqi refugees in the U.S., then adding the reference to the Statue of Liberty, which seemed to violate CNN’s strict social media policy for journalists.

Labott joined CNN in 2000 and was promoted to her current position last year.
