CNN Wins Saturday Kennedy Handily

More details from the weekend coverage of the funeral of Ted Kennedy. After a win on Friday night, CNN was once again the clear winner during Sen. Kennedy’s funeral and the burial service Saturday.

As our scoreboard indicates, CNN won primetime in both the A25-54 demo and Total Viewers besting FNC, MSNBC, and HLN combined. CNN also won the total day in both categories by less sizable margins.

During the funeral (10amET to 1:30pmET), CNN averaged 2.34 million Total Viewers (619K demo). FNC averaged 1.68M Total Viewers (305K demo) and MSNBC averaged 1.10M (270K). In the 8pmET hour, CNN averaged 3.51M Total Viewers and 914K in the demo.

This was far from an ordinary Saturday. By comparison, last Saturday CNN averaged 499K Total Viewers in primetime and 481K total day, while FNC averaged 1.005M Total viewers in prime and 893K in total day and MSNBC averaged 387K Total Viewers in primetime and 340K in total day.
