CNN’s Tony Maddox, who oversees international newsgathering and programming, went on the network’s “Reliable Sources” this morning to talk about why CNN chose not to air the latest hostage video. ISIS released a video Thursday showing British journalist John Cantile who spoke about being “abandoned by my government” and that his “fate now lies in the hands of the Islamic State.”
Maddox called the video a kind of torture. “For me the editorial returns were not worth the ethical compromises involved in showing that film and that’s why CNN took the decision not to show it.” So why show two other videos of American ISIS hostages who were murdered by the terror group?
