CNN launched June 1, 1980. On that day, 35 years later, the network will look back at the biggest stories in the network’s history. Breaking News: 35 Years of CNN will air tomorrow at 9pmET with an encore June 1 at 9pmET.
The Wolf Blitzer-hosted special will cover everything from the day Ronald Reagan was shot and the crumbling of the Berlin Wall to Anita Hill’s testimony in the Clarence Thomas Supereme Court confirmation hearing and the Arab Spring. It will also explore six of the biggest news events during the CNN era, including Baby Jessica, the first Gulf War, the O.J. Simpson trial, September 11th, Hurricane Katrina and the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Past and present CNN personalities are scheduled to appear, including former CNN national correspondent Tony Clark and former CNN evp Bob Furnad. Larry King, Anderson Cooper, Aaron Brown and Paula Zahn are also part of the anniversary special.
