CNN Renames Daytime Programming; ‘CNN Newsroom’ Starts Sept. 4

By Brian

CNN is revamping its daytime news programming, cutting American Morning back to three hours, and returning to a male-female anchor pair during the day. Jon Klein made the announcements this morning.

Effective Sept. 4: ‘CNN Live Today’ and ‘Live From…’ will be called ‘CNN Newsroom.’

From 10am to noon: Tony Harris and Heidi Collins will anchor from Atlanta. “The morning edition will expand to 9 a.m. to noon later in the fall,” the press release says. (Your World Today will still air at noon.)

From 1 to 4pm: Don Lemon will join Kyra Phillips in Atlanta.
