CNN Recognizes World Refugee Day

By Brian

Kudos to CNN for a full day of World Refugee Day coverage. The network is airing stories about “the “global refugee crisis” on “every CNN/U.S. and CNN International program.” Correspondents like Nic Robertson, Stan Grant, Sanjay Gupta, Dan Lothian, Christiane Amanpour, Sibila Vargas, Dan Rivers are contributing reports. Jeff Koinange is in Aruya, Uganda and Paula Hancocks is at a camp near Bethelem. (Hancocks was live “via broadband” this morning.) Here’s the press release, and here’s the CNN.com special report.

Oh, and I think Anderson Cooper has some sort of exclusive interview tonight…

> An e-mailer asks: “Anyone else feeling like ‘World Refugee Day’ is more like the CNN of old? Real reporting about stories that matter, correspondents reporting from locations around the world, relevant U.S. stories included where necessary and appropriate… Why oh why can’t we be treated like adults by this network every day instead of one day a year?”
